Stained Glass Window Repair and Restoration in Denver

Many churches in Denver and around Colorado have antique stained glass windows that are decades, if not a full century, old. Since stained glass should be restored every 80-100 years, many of these windows are in need of repair. Finding an experienced restoration company is a must, especially when dealing with iconography of such high antique and sentimental value. When properly restored, stained glass can go another century without needing repair. Since Denver Stained Glass has been in the stained glass business for over 25 years, we are the contractor to turn to for both quality and peace of mind. Our age-old stained glass techniques were brought over from Scotland by our owner Martin Faith and the difference in our work shows. We hire only the most skilled local artisans who understand and excel in the timeless stained glass tradition. In short, you can trust us with your precious religious relics.

Religious Stained Glass Restoration Process

Our renowned stained glass restoration process begins with an on-site assessment. Our stained glass artisans utilize this time in order to problem solve and analyze the root issues responsible for deterioration. Identifying the underlying causes allows us to create a custom plan of action that helps prevent those problems from affecting your glass again, prolonging product life. Once our assessment is complete, we carefully remove your stained glass window and transport it back to our repair studio.

When your stained glass panels arrive at our studio, we soak them in a proprietary cleaning solution for at least two weeks. This process ensures that all pieces of dirt and impurities built up from the last century are removed, while allowing us to take the window apart piece by piece. We then repair or replace damaged and warped glass pieces from our vast inventory of over 50,000 stained glass pieces, or we can even have them custom blown for a perfect match. If your stained glass contains painted glass, an older technique where the artist bakes the glass in a kiln after painting it by hand, our designers are able to replicate this technique, creating a flawless duplicate. Depending on the condition of the lead, we either rebuild your window with completely new lead or fill the joints with a mixture of lead and tin, solidifying its strength.

After rebuilding your stained glass, we cover both sides with a black cement which is forced into any cracks, adding further durability. We polish the cement off your stained glass window and then reinforce it with two glass panes, protecting it from the harsh Colorado elements. Once we reinstall your restored stained glass panels, you and your congregation will be astonished and re-inspired by the fresh, beautiful look!
