Church stained glass for any denomination.
Stained glass has a spectacular history in churches and other religious houses of worship around the world. Some of it dates back centuries, and is as moving, inspirational, and vivid as it was when it was built.
We have come to see church stained glass, over the centuries, as an enhancement to the church experience, because it does have such an uplifting, inspirational effect. And that is not changed at all in today’s modern churches, although the style of the stained glass can be very different.
The traditional style of church stained glass frequently told a story or depicted a scene from the bible. It might have featured religious icons, saints, or other symbols of holiness. This was important not just because it added to the congregation’s sense of awe when they entered the church, but because back in the Middle Ages, most people were not educated as they are today. They could not read the Bible for themselves. So these majestic stained glass windows were constructed to give a message that was easy to understand.
In today’s world, in today’s religious climate, pretty much everyone can read the Bible if they want to. But church stained glass still upholds that same tradition, and is still sought after to add beauty and reverence and awe for the congregation.
Modern houses of worship can still commission traditional looking church stained glass, or they can go for something different. Styles, designs, and pictures that are more contemporary in feel. It all depends on what the congregation wants. Church stained glass has been popular for centuries, and it is easy to see why!
